Distribuzione e habitat
Possono essere trovati in tutti gli mwjwoceanicite-ref-2[2], e vivono sia in zone con fondali rocciosi che con fondali sabbiosi. Di solito si trovano oltre il limitare della mwlapiattaforma continentale.
Descrizione
Sono mwlwinvertebrati con un esoscheletro molto protettivo. Come molti mwmaartropodi, devono cambiarlo tramite una mwmqmuta. Durante quel processo sono vulnerabili.
Hanno 10 arti, dei quali le prime tre paia sono mwmwchele; le chele della prima coppia sono molto più grandi delle altrecite-ref-3[3]. Testa e mwoatorace sono fusi insieme nel mwoqcefalotorace, coperto da un mwogcarapace di mwowchitina, che presenta un rostro abbastanza lungocite-ref-worms-1-1[1]. La lunghezza delle antenne è maggiore di quella del corpocite-ref-worms-1-2[1].
Biologia
Alcuni presentano organismi simbiotici, cioè mwuqcicliofori del genere mwugmwuwSymbion nelle mwvabranchie o nella boccacite-ref-obst-5-0[5].
Comportamento
Generalmente si rifugiano negli anfratti tra le rocce. Alcune specie, come mwwwThymopsis nilenta, vivono in aree molto profonde, anche oltre i 3000 m di profonditàcite-ref-6[6]. Mangiano la propria pelle dopo la muta.
